Soft Swirl
4-channel video installation with 2-channel audio, 10mins, 2024
‘Soft Swirl’ is an exploration of identity, belonging, and the complexities of perception. Through the lens of a biologically female immigrant navigating life in the UK, the film delves into the visceral discomfort of being observed and judged by others. The film seamlessly transitions between the public domain, where the protagonist is subject to the scrutiny of strangers, and the private realm, where she finds solace in her own self-awareness. As the narrative unfolds, ‘Soft Swirl’ invites viewers to confront their own biases and preconceptions, ultimately challenging them to reconsider the way they perceive others and themselves.
